The Torcal de Antequera Natural Area has become one of the preferred destinations for school groups from all over the world, due to its unique landscape and services offered.
In the case of school groups, the visit can be done independently (without guides from Torcal de Antequera) or guided by choosing any of the activities for school groups that we offer in our educational program.
If the group chooses a self-guided visit, this option is free, although prior notification is essential. This allows the Visitor Center and the Natural Area management to have a daily visitor forecast, improving service and visitor assistance. More information here.
In the case of guided tours for school groups, we offer a complete program adapted by grade level and complying with current health regulations.
Educational program of the Torcal Alto Visitor Center 2026/27
After more than 16 years dedicated to the Torcal de Antequera Natural Area, we have specialized in visits for school groups, with very educational and enjoyable tours for students of all ages.
All the visits proposed below are adapted to the needs of the group, in terms of duration, difficulty, schedule and interpretive discourse.
El Torcal for schoolchildren
This is the most popular half-day guided tour for groups due to its versatility and flexibility. Not sure which tour to choose? This one’s for you!
Target audience: students from preschool to high school, from any background. This guided tour can be conducted in Spanish, English, or French.
Duration and schedule
The duration is variable and adapted to each group, from 1 hour up to a maximum of 4 hours for a half day, including breaks.
Although a full-day option is also available, with educational workshops in the afternoon (orienteering and survival, tracking and footprints, prehistory, slingshot shooting, etc.). The recommended schedule in this case is from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Regarding the schedule, it is also adapted to the group, but mornings are recommended. From April to June, it can also be held in the afternoon, as there are more hours of daylight.

Little Prehistory Workshop
In the Prehistory Workshop for Little Ones, we’ll travel back in time to learn more about the first inhabitants of El Torcal de Antequera. Where did they live? What did they eat? What did they believe in? These are just some of the questions we’ll find answers to in this prehistoric adventure.

Little Explorers
Let’s go on an expedition! We’ll venture into a veritable stone jungle, home to all sorts of creatures. We’ll follow their tracks and observe a wealth of authentic remains to discover who lives in the Torcal de Antequera. We’ll become true little explorers.

The Last Survivor
We’ll learn basic orientation and wilderness survival techniques from expert guides. And for some fun, we’ll build bivouac shelters in teams. Do you dare become the last survivor?

Torcal, Menga and Viera for schoolchildren
This full-day visit will include visits to two of the most important sites declared as World Heritage in Antequera: the Torcal de Antequera Natural Area and the Antequera Dolmens Archaeological Complex (Menga and Viera dolmens).

This visit has a maximum duration of 7 hours. The schedule is adapted to the group, but it is recommended to visit between 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM, visiting the Torcal de Antequera (natural area) in the morning, and the Menga and Viera Dolmens (archaeological site) after lunch.

Torcal Astronomical Observatory
The Torcal de Antequera boasts one of the most important astronomical observatories in Andalusia. And, without a doubt, the most accessible of them all.
With a long history of outreach thanks to Aula del Cielo, they offer both daytime (sun) and nighttime observations, thematic courses, interactive talks, or even the possibility of installing planetariums in the educational center itself.

Duration and schedule
It varies depending on the type of activity. Solar observations are best done in the morning, while nighttime observations are only possible after nightfall.
In the case of talks, courses and planetariums, the schedule is adapted.

Antequera Dolmens Archaeological Site
Declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, and made up of the Menga Dolmen, Viera Dolmen and Romeral Tholos, it is one of the most important and picturesque necropolises in Europe.

Alcazaba and Collegiate Church of Santa María
Popularly known as the “Castle of Papabellotas”, the Alcazaba is one of the most spectacular and majestic monuments in the city and becomes a must-see stop on your tour of Antequera.

Museums
In a city as monumental as Antequera, museums were a must.
The Antequera City Museum (MVCA) presents the history of the “Lands of Antequera” in a general, complete, chronological and illustrated way with a selection of its most representative archaeological, historical and artistic remains.
The Provincial Council’s Art Museum (MAD) is located in the Los Colarte House Museum and is a space created for the dissemination and reflection on art. Exhibitions are organized into two main sections: a permanent collection that aims to showcase the art collection of the Málaga Provincial Council and the building itself, based on its unique architectural and historical features; and temporary exhibitions.
Antequera Textile Industry
The permanent exhibition entitled “The textile industry of Antequera” aims to showcase the industrial activity of the sector in Antequera and provide an overview of the main factories in Malaga and the province.
As a complement to the exhibition, there is also the possibility of taking a walking route, which has been designed to learn about the history, events and factories that lined the banks of the Villa River, as it passes through the old industrial center “El Henchidero”, which is currently preserved, after its restoration, as an Educational Complex.
Juego interactivo “Marco Topo” – ONLY IN SPANISH
“Maco Topo” es un juego interactivo para hacer turismo en familia y descubrir el patrimonio histórico y natural de Antequera.
Utilizando teléfonos móviles y un mapa de juego, se han de resolver distintos retos en una doble ruta que recorre tanto el núcleo urbano como el Sitio de los Dólmenes y Torcal de Antequera .
“Laguna de Fuente de Piedra” Nature Reserve
The Fuente de Piedra Lagoon is the largest in Andalusia and offers a privileged environment for the reproduction of the pink flamingo, as well as being a wintering area and passage for many other birds.
Whether guided or self-guided, and if weather conditions are favorable, it is one of the best additions to a nature outing.
Nativity Scene Museum of Mollina
Open year-round, this cultural center is designed for the enjoyment of all audiences and ages: tourists, historians, art lovers, educational centers and anyone who wants to discover the unknown art of nativity scene making.
Lobo Park
Theme park featuring several species of wolves, a farm school, horse rentals and riding lessons.
For school children, it offers special schedules and rates.
