El Torcal under the full moon

• Use of warm clothing and long pants. El Torcal de Antequera is a natural mountain setting at an altitude of over 1,200 meters, where the temperature is much lower than in Antequera. Check the weather forecast here. However, in summer, there are many thistles and thorny plants, so long pants are recommended.
• Use of mountain boots or similar footwear. The terrain is very stony and irregular. Good footwear can prevent accidents and ankle sprains.
• Bring drinking water and some food. There will be a small stop en route for a light picnic, so the participant must bring their own supplies.
• Bring a flashlight or headlamp per person. Although we will try to carry out the entire visit with only the light of the moon, towards the end of the route you may need backup lights to avoid tripping. Therefore, a flashlight or headlight is required per person.
• Due to the steep terrain, this activity is not recommended for people with mobility problems, delicate knees or hips, or children under 8 years of age. The organization reserves the right of admission to people who do not meet the minimum requirements to make the journey safely.
• Pets: It is allowed to attend with dogs, always leashed and under the responsibility of their owner, according to the regulations of the Natural Park. Please note that, just as thorny vegetation can affect people, it can also be uncomfortable for pets. Therefore, we recommend that you assess whether your pet is used to walking in these conditions before participating in the route.
• It is recommended not to smoke during the activity. Remember that we are in a natural area of high ecological value, and the summer months are considered a high risk of fire.

*This activity only covers the guide service of the monitors, the necessary materials and the relevant insurance. In no case is transportation to the places where the activities are carried out or supplies included.

** The activity will be suspended if a minimum number of registered participants is not reached. Please, check also the languague (is not English tour available every date). In such a case, participants will be notified by email (please check that you have entered your email address correctly in the booking form and also your “Junk Mail” or “SPAM” folder).

The meeting point with the guide is the main door of the Torcal Alto Visitor Center*, about 20-30 minutes before departure. Once the reservation is made, the participant will receive the specific schedule of the event, since it varies depending on the time of sunset on each date. As a rule, it is a 3-hour activity that begins before sunset and ends at nightfall.

• June (20, 21): 8:30 p.m. to 11:45 p.m.
• July (18, 19, 20): 8:30 p.m. to 11:45 p.m.
• August (16, 17, 18, 19): 8:15 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.
• September (15, 16): 7:15 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

*The Torcal Alto Visitor Center will be closed at the time of the event (usual opening hours from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.). The participant must take into account that there is no access to toilets.
