It&#8217;s well worth it! <\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">El Torcal de Antequera is a<strong> protected natural area<\/strong> located 15km from the city of Antequera. Its altitude, over 1200 meters, affords views of the Mediterranean Sea. <\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">But more than the panoramic views, El Torcal de Antequera is known for its karst landscape. Limestone rocks, eroded by layers into incredible shapes, stretch as far as the eye can see. It is a veritable &#8220;sea of \u200b\u200bstone.&#8221; And let&#8217;s not forget the rich diversity of flora and fauna it harbors, as well as archaeological remains from various periods.   <\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">n the case of the guided tour for schoolchildren in this modality, the students will travel along an<strong> interpreted hiking route<\/strong> through the Torcal de Antequera.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Both the walking tour and the explanations will be adapted to the students&#8217; age. However, if the group has enough time, the <strong>Ammonite Route <\/strong>or a very similar route (approx. 4km) will be undertaken, where students can observe authentic marine fossil footprints (Ammonites and Belemnites). <\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Ammonite Route (or similar route)<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Length (approx.): 2 to 4km<\/li>\n<li>Duration (approx.): 1.5 to 3 hours with interpretive stops. This part of the visit will be adapted to the available time, whether it is a half-day or full-day tour, and the age of the students. <\/li>\n<li>Difficulty: low-medium (very rocky and irregular terrain, it is advisable to use mountain boots or similar footwear)<\/li>\n<li>The guide will make various stops to interpret the landscape: panoramic views of the nearby environment (Sierra Nevada, Malaga Bay, Sierra de las Nieves, etc.), traces of marine fossils of Ammonites and Belemnites, remains of human settlements, karst formations, biodiversity native, etc. Todo ello, adaptado a la edad de los alumnos <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">However, if the group consists of students with reduced mobility, or if they don&#8217;t have as much time, the hiking route through El Torcal will be adapted to the participants. In this case, the visit will be complemented with a guided tour of the Torcal Alto Visitor Center (museum and audiovisual presentation). <\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Menga and Viera Dolmens<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Menga and Viera Dolmens are located in the same city of Antequera, in the <strong>Antequera Dolmens Archaeological Complex<\/strong>, so the group will have to travel to this place on their own.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The <strong>Menga Dolmen<\/strong> is the largest tomb and boasts a spectacular entrance. Composed of an atrium, corridor, and burial chamber, its construction with large stone slabs supported by three enormous pillars is particularly noteworthy. Its orientation is also quite unique, as the Lovers&#8217; Rock <strong>(Pe\u00f1a de los Enamorados)<\/strong>, a site of great symbolic importance throughout history, can be seen from inside.  <\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The <strong>Viera Dolmen<\/strong>, near Menga, is characterized by its narrow passage grave, with a small burial chamber at the far end. Its precise orientation allows the sun&#8217;s rays to illuminate the burial chamber at dawn on the spring and autumn equinoxes. <\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">During the visit, the students will learn how and why the burial mounds were built thousands of years ago. A monumental effort that is still difficult to comprehend today. <\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Schedule<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The guided tour of Torcal, Menga and Viera is recommended as a <strong>full-day tour<\/strong>, as this is the only way to truly appreciate the beauty of both locations.<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>10:00 a.m.: Group reception at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.es\/maps\/place\/Centro+de+Visitantes+del+Torcal+de+Antequera\/@36.9525408,-4.5451472,15z\/data=!4m2!3m1!1s0x0:0xaeb4189a15d7dafc?sa=X&#038;ved=0ahUKEwiOhojI9tTXAhXQ46QKHY8sAZ4Q_BIIhQEwCg\">Torcal Alto Visitor Center<\/a>. Introduction of the guides and coordination of the group according to ratios. Free time for breakfast.  <\/li>\n<li>10:30 a.m.: Start of the hiking route through the Torcal de Antequera (Ammonite Route or similar). Hiking boots or similar footwear are essential. <\/li>\n<li>01:00 am (approx.): Return to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.es\/maps\/place\/Centro+de+Visitantes+del+Torcal+de+Antequera\/@36.9525408,-4.5451472,15z\/data=!4m2!3m1!1s0x0:0xaeb4189a15d7dafc?sa=X&#038;ved=0ahUKEwiOhojI9tTXAhXQ46QKHY8sAZ4Q_BIIhQEwCg\">Torcal Alto Visitor Center<\/a>. The students will visit the interactive museum and the classroom with fossils and bone remains.<\/li>\n<li>1:30 p.m. (approx.): End of the visit to El Torcal de Antequera and free time for lunch. There is a small picnic area nearby. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.torcaldeantequera.com\/en\/information\/visitors-center\/torcal-alto-restaurant\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Torcal Alto Restaurant <\/a>offers group menus upon request.  <\/li>\n<li>3:00 PM: Transfer by bus to the<a href=\"http:\/\/www.juntadeandalucia.es\/cultura\/museos\/CADA\/index.jsp?redirect=S2_1.jsp\"> Antequera Dolmens Archaeological Site<\/a> (transport not included).<\/li>\n<li>3:45 p.m. (approx.): Arrival at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.juntadeandalucia.es\/cultura\/museos\/CADA\/index.jsp?redirect=S2_1.jsp\">Antequera Dolmens Archaeological Site<\/a> and start of the guided tour of the Menga and Viera Dolmens. If available, the audiovisual presentation will also be shown. <\/li>\n<li>5:00 PM: End of the visit and farewell to the group.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>The schedule will be adapted to the group as much as possible. This tour option is <strong>not available on Mondays or Sundays.<\/strong> <\/em><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Target audience and ratios<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This guided tour is suitable for <strong>any school group<\/strong>, from the second cycle of Primary Education to Baccalaureate. The minimum group size for the tour is 20 students.
